Doctors Discussing Notes

Urological and gynecological care

wireless uroflow meter & cystoscope sets

To strengthen urological and gynecological care in our community, the Foundation funded two key tools. First, a wireless uroflow meter was added to the Uro/Gyne Surgical Program, offering a non-invasive way to assess bladder and urethral function—crucial for early diagnosis and treatment planning.

We also acquired 30° and 70° cystoscope sets, enabling physicians to perform in-depth examinations, remove stones, take biopsies, and treat various bladder conditions. These additions not only enhance diagnostic accuracy but also underscore our commitment to supporting advanced women’s health services right here in Edson.

Dual Exercise Bike for Physical Rehabilitation

Recovery doesn’t happen in isolation—it takes movement, effort, and the right tools.

That’s why we funded a dual exercise bike for the Rehab and Physical Therapy room. Unlike a standard bike, this one allows patients to pedal with both their arms and legs, making it ideal for rebuilding strength, improving coordination, and supporting full-body recovery.

Whether someone is bouncing back from a stroke, surgery, or injury, this equipment helps them regain independence faster—right here in our local facility.

Mountain Scape Mural

Continuing Care Area

To uplift the spirits of patients and staff, a serene mountain landscape mural now adorns the glass railing and walls of the Continuing Care area, bringing a touch of Edson's natural beauty indoors.

Evacuation "Go Bags

When our town and hospital facilities were evacuated due to forest fires, it was apparent that the residents in Continuing Care were ill-prepared for a quick exit.

With the help of a generous family member of a resident and the Foundation, we were able to purchase an evacuation bag for each resident, have them labelled, and equipped with enough supplies for a couple days away, in the case of an emergency.

Close Up on Eyes

Cataract Program

Since May 2021, over 700 people
can "see clearly now",

The Edson Community Care Foundation is proud to provide support for those undergoing cataract surgery in our community. Our goal is to improve the quality of life for individuals and families, for whom a medical procedure like cataract surgery can make all the difference. We aim to provide the needed assistance without having to leave the comfort of their home community.

ALARM Training
(Advances in Labour and Risk Management)

Is a comprehensive obstetrics training program designed to enhance problem-solving skills, teamwork, and emergency response for healthcare professionals attending to women in labour. Through hands-on simulations and practical learning modules, ALARM equips nurses and doctors with the expertise needed to navigate complex obstetric situations with confidence and efficiency. Providing this training to Edson hospital staff helps to ensure the safest possible outcomes for both mothers and babies.
